If you’ve been walking around Louisville the past year or so, you’ve likely seen the Vend-A-Pin machines around Bardstown Road, particularly at Ultra Pop. For those that haven’t been initiated to it yet, you pop in quarters and you get a .5″ button with artwork from a local artist on it. Well, Royal Buttons has expanded this program as well as expanded the locations for the machines and made this game of ‘collect them all’ a bit more fun. As mentioned before on Louisville Hardcore (as well as other places), Royal Buttons has released their Vend-A-Pin Volume 1 compilation and the only way to get this sweet piece of 12″ vinyl – collect buttons corresponding to all 10 bands on the comp. For a full track list, click on the Collection List image to the left.
The buttons have been spread around town in various vending machines and are available for fifty cents. Here’s a list of places you can find them –
Ear X-Tacy, Ultra Pop, Nachbar, Highland Coffee, Derby City Espresso, Derby City Chop Shop, The Tim Faulkner Gallery, and Land Of Tomorrow (on Broadway).
When you get a pin from the machines, you get one of those fun little bubbles that you loved as a kid with the band’s pin and a download code for the band’s contribution to the comp. Make sure to keep the paper that the code is on – to get the actual vinyl comp, you need to collect all ten and bring them to Ear X-Tacy and redeem them.
