Vend A Pin comp

Vend-A-Pin Collection List

Vend-A-Pin Collection List

If you’ve been walking around Louisville the past year or so, you’ve likely seen the Vend-A-Pin machines around Bardstown Road, particularly at Ultra Pop. For those that haven’t been initiated to it yet, you pop in quarters and you get a .5″ button with artwork from a local artist on it. Well, Royal Buttons has expanded this program as well as expanded the locations for the machines and made this game of ‘collect them all’ a bit more fun. As mentioned before on Louisville Hardcore (as well as other places), Royal Buttons has released their Vend-A-Pin Volume 1 compilation and the only way to get this sweet piece of 12″ vinyl – collect buttons corresponding to all 10 bands on the comp. For a full track list, click on the Collection List image to the left.

The buttons have been spread around town in various vending machines and are available for fifty cents. Here’s a list of places you can find them –
Ear X-Tacy, Ultra Pop, Nachbar, Highland Coffee, Derby City Espresso, Derby City Chop Shop, The Tim Faulkner Gallery, and Land Of Tomorrow (on Broadway).

When you get a pin from the machines, you get one of those fun little bubbles that you loved as a kid with the band’s pin and a download code for the band’s contribution to the comp. Make sure to keep the paper that the code is on – to get the actual vinyl comp, you need to collect all ten and bring them to Ear X-Tacy and redeem them.

Coliseum news

Greetings everyone, a quick update before we head out on tour later this week:

The COLISEUM / SUPERCHUNK split 7” is available now online from Shirt Killer, we have 100 copies for sale on Shirt Killer and about 80 copies for sale on tour… This sucker sold out within hours in stores on Record Store Day and will go very quickly on Shirt Killer. I think our plan is to sell five a night on tour so they last for a couple of weeks. The point is: grab it while you can!

The BLACK GOD 7” out now on No Idea and also available from Shirt Killer, you can get it with the Superchunk split to save on shipping if you want both records. Black God is Rob Pennington, Nick Thieneman, Ben Sears and me, kind of a continuation of Black Cross, but a bit more stripped down with short songs and more pummeling Wipers meets DC obsession. We’ll have plenty of copies of the 7” on tour with Coliseum too.

Our split live LP with BURNING LOVE via Sound Study Recordings will hopefully be in our hands at the May 8th Gainesville show… Fingers crossed! The CD will be out in July via Tee Pee Records.

Self-titled LP on Bandcamp:  Our first album has been out of print for over four years, so we’ve made it available as a low-priced download from Bandcamp. Check it out here.

We are VERY excited to hit the road starting this week, these will be our first shows in the US and Canada since late last summer. It’s going to be a blast! We’ll be heading west in June/July, so keep an eye out for dates soon.

See you at the shows,

Ryan / Coliseum

Thanks from Sean

A thank you note from Sean Naamani in regards to the Ants In An Argument reunion the other night:

“I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who came out to Cahoots last night to support the AIAA reunion show along with the Revenants. It was an incredible show which featured a surprise ending featuring the performance of the notorious Vagrants song “Rejected Youth. We also had guest appearances from Jason of The Revenants and Spectre from old Louisville hardcore punk band Charisma Society. This was the most fun show that we have ever played and most of the credit for that goes out to the fans. Meanwhile, Nick, Will, and me (Sean) are continuing to play together (going under a new name and writing new material.) so keep your eyes peeled for bands featuring ex-AIAA members. Thanks again for showing your support.”
