Coliseum/Auxilary October 09 News

Greetings all. It’s been a while since the last Coliseum update…

First, we’re very happy to welcome Coliseum’s new drummer Carter Wilson to the fold. Carter hails from Birmingham and we tracked him down on the suggestion of Young Widows, who we thank very much for the tip. He joined the band in August and has seamlessly learned our old songs while diving headlong into new material. Many movies, burritos and good times have been shared in the last few months and we look forward to many more down the road. We’ll be hitting the road this month for the first time since June, debuting some new songs and playing our first batch of shows with Carter.

Oct. 09 Noise Pollution News

Hello folks. Just a brief news update.

We’ve modified our dusty old website with a blogspot account so as to provide news updates with greater frequency. This will act as a sort of placeholder site until we get our stuff together for a proper overhaul. The old site will no longer be updated other than new releases which will be accessible through the blog. Please go to www.louisvillenoise.com to check it out and check back often as we’re going to be adding updates regularly.

We’re very pleased to announce the upcoming release of the new Second Story Man album, Screaming Secrets. It will be released on December 5th on both CD and LP. This record has been over two years in the making and is easily the best work they have ever done. The release show will be at Skull Alley on 12/5 with openers Straight A’s and Softcheque.

Jason Noble Benefit with Shellac/Shannon Wright

“In September, Rodan and Shipping News co-founder Jason Noble was diagnosed with cancer and underwent massive surgery. The procedure removed most if the cancer, but Noble will still have to undergo treatment that could cost thousands. In an effort to help with Jason and his wife Kristin with medical costs, Shellac and Shannon Wright will play a benefit show Nov. 21 at The 930 Listening Room. Tickets to the all ages show are $17 (adv.), $20 (door), and go on sale this Friday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. at ear X-tacy and at The 930.”

Tony Bailey Memorial

A memorial gathering for Anthony J. Bailey will be held this Sunday, October 4th from 6pm to 10pm at Skull Alley, 1017 E. Broadway, Louisville, KY

There will be an opportunity to share your stories and memories, aloud or on paper. If you cannot attend and would like something read, please Email it to fncyatb at gmail dot com All are encouraged to bring finger/appetizer type foods. No alcohol/beer will be served and none may be brought in. Beverages will be provided by Skull Alley.

( Close friends of Tony’s arranged this memorial at Skull Alley, and it is happening on 10/4, regardless of anything else that may or may not pop up. This is for anyone who knew and loved Tony. Despite some of our personal feelings about sharing grief with distant acquaintances, by all means, if you knew him and were touched by him, feel free to come out.
Skull Alley is hosting this on their own time and dime and NO SOLICITATIONS ARE BEING MADE FOR DONATIONS OF ANY SORT. )

Jen Futrell memorial

“September 30th marks one year since Louisville native and rock n’ roller Jen Futrell was killed on her bicycle. In remembrance of her life and others’ that have been killed on the road as pedestrians or cyclists there will be a day of food and biking. The Down Home Hospitality Cafe, Jen’s traveling kitchen, will host a potluck at 4 pm in Tyler Park. At 6pm we will leave Tyler Park and ride touring the sites of downed cyclists and pedestrians. There will be one person dressed in white for each person that was killed as a pedestrian or cyclist this year and last. At 7pm we will end at Jen’s ghost bike across from Wild and Wooly Video and there we will hold a vigil. Please come and join us. Feel free to bring food, white clothing, or candles. Mostly we just want you to bring yourself. “
